Interpreters listed on this website are fully qualified to work in a range of different settings.
RSLI refers to Registered Sign Language Interpreter, the register being held by the NRCPD (National Registers of Communication Professionals working with Deaf and Deafblind People}. These interpreters have agreed to abide by a code of conduct and a complaints procedure. They will have professional indemnity insurance and identification cards. RSLl's will also have a current enhanced CRB certificate available for you to check.
MVLP refers to a member of an organisation called Visual Language Professionals. Members are covered by Professional Indemnity Insurance (PII) and carry an ID card which clearly states that they are qualified.
MASLI refers to a Full Member of the Association of Sign Language Interpreters ASLI.
RBSLI The Regulatory Body for Sign Language Interpreters and Translators (RBSLI) is an independent, voluntary regulator established in 2015. You can verify interpreters and translators registration status with RBSLI using the search facilities on their website or by checking the interpreters ID Card.
Institute of Translators and Interpreters Qualified membership (MITI) has been developed for practising translators and interpreters with proven experience. Qualified membership provides certification for experienced professional translators and interpreters.
All Staffordshire BSL Interpreters interpreters have agreed to abide by a Code of Ethics/Professional Practice and complaints procedure and will have professional indemnity insurance and identification cards. RSLls will also have a current enhanced DBS certificate available for you to check
*Qualifications are: Postgraduate qualification in BSUEnglish interpreting (PGDIP or MA) OR CACDP Level 4 or Level 6 NVQ in Interpreting SSL/English (including CACDP Level 4 or Level 6 NVQ BSL} OR CACDP RQI exam (pre NVQ) Please note: Level 4 and Level 6 are equivalent qualifications i.e. of the same standard; Level 6 was introduced in 2009 in a re-structure of the NVQ system.
